The GSS and certain thoughts about life

Ok after totally forgetting that I have a blog for goodness knows how long, I have decided to make a temporary comeback. (But I will probably stop blogging again when school starts next week.)Well as seen from the title of this post, I'd like to talk about my recent experience with the Great Singapore Sale. K the scenario is that my mum and I went to Robinsons at Centrepoint one evening to shop (cos according to my mum the Robinsons sale really got a lot of discounts unlike certain shops). And may I mention that Centrepoint is very far from the MRT station. Cos I almost lost my way. -_- But anyway that day we bought one pair of shoes (for me), 3 handbags (for my mum), one quilt plus quilt cover (for me) plus some cloth to wipe the cloth (or whatever it is. my mum apparently thinks that it is a good deal).
I would also like to mention, that the reason why I needed to buy shoes, was because a couple of weeks ago, by some stroke of luck my only 2 pairs of going out shoes spoilt within a day of each other. The soles of one shoe in both pairs came out (only one pair is from the front, the other is from the back). But I wore for 1 and a half years already. I wonder whether that is considered long enough. (Buy in China one, so I suppose reasonably durable already la.) And my mum bought 3 handbags cos she supposedly feels very sad about how she doesnt have nice handbags for formal functions, plus her go-to-work handbag is spoilt so she bought one for work (looks like a flattened out tortoise shell. honestly.), and one for going to restaurants/people's houses (diao -_-) and one for attending weddings (ultra-ultra-diao). When we met my dad under our condo block later she was like "i only spent less than 100 bucks on myself. the rest spend on you one." Then I gave her a pointed look and she was like "ok la a bit more than 100 bucks". Then I gave her a VERY pointed look and informed her that her a bit more than 100 bucks is actually around 150 bucks. And then my dad looked very 无奈.
Hmm I shall list down a conversation I held with my mum (translated from Chinese) as an illustration as to how shopping can be quite thought-provoking.
Me: How come the bags all so ex one?
Mum: Cos leather mah.
Me: I feel very bad about using leather bags and wearing leather shoes leh. Cos they kill the animals to get the skin.
Mum: Aiya the animals exist to let us use the skin. Anyway we eat the animals what. If not you go and become vegatarian lor.
Me: I have contemplated that issue and came to the conclusion that we need not become vegetarian to save the animals because it is all part of the food web of nature. But then using leather products doesnt seem very natural...
Mum: As I said, the animals are there for us to use.
Me: Then the newspapers say should not wear fur coats.
Mum: That is for animals like bears and cats (CAT FUR COATS???), not for animals like cows and pigs (PIG SKIN COATS??? even more hilarious!).
Me: Really ah... (getting more and more confused)
My mum is such a typical (blank) lor. I must say I disagree with her as to quite a few issues. And I do not share her passion for shopping. I mean, I enjoy shopping to some extent, cos I like looking at nice-looking/interesting-looking clothes and shoes (i am not very interested in bags). But after about one hour my legs start screaming that they want to rest and I get very bored (that day I almost fell asleep waiting for my mum to decide whether a black tortoise shell bag or a mud-coloured tortoise shell bag suits her better. Then I went to the nearby jewellery and watch counter which was almost blinding me with all the sparkly shiny stuff and the promoted asked me whether I wanted to look at the watches. I was dead embarassed cos I mean I was wearing my school u (ORA shirt plus culottes) and obviously (i think) I didn't have any money. I skulked back to my mum with my tail between my legs (if I had a tail, that is).
Oh and then we went to look at mattresses cos my mum wants to buy one. Then she was trying to lie on the beds to test out but unfortunately her weight does not seem to make much impact on the mattresses (she is 10 cm taller than me and only about one or two kg heavier than me). So she is going to get my dad to come test out (goodness knows he is heavy enough)/ Oh and we went to the men's department but didnt buy anything cos not really on sale. And then this promoter came to tell us about what thin people wear this kind then fat people wear got plaids kind. Then I started giggling and went like my dad probably needs A LOT of plaids then. So the promoted asked my mum what's my dad's waist size and my mum told her and she said that that is considered normal size and big size is like about 4 cm more or whatever. And after I heard that I was like hmm....ok maybe...., but actually I was thinking that their size thingy seriously got problem.
Ok so that day we spent quite a lot of money. But nevermind it is my mum's money so doesnt exactly affect me. I just walked around with her and helped her carry all the bags while she looks at the stuff. After we bought all the stuff we stuffed the 6 bags of things into 3 bags cos my mum said bring so many bags home later my grandparents see say she spend a lot of money.
On a sidenote I shall mention a bit about this two days' co prac. On thurs my right hand 4th finger started hurting like crazy cos play lun too much then muscles too tense also. Today it swelled up. I managed to 忍 part of the time and substitute lun for 3-finger lun or 滚 the rest of the time. But it seriously hurts. And also the sound effects in molou (like hitting the pipa) makes my other fingers as well. But all in all I enjoyed prac la. Except for the very painful part. But very tiring also. Cannot imagine if i join rjco next time then got 7 hour dazu until 9. I will confirm die. How?
